Fellow Delegates,

I am proud to endorse my friend Chris Byrd for re-election to the SREC for SD25!

Chris has worked closely with my office, both in crafting legislation and being a watchman for unconstitutional bills coming through my committees. He has been an effective advocate for our party’s legislative priorities and principles and I encourage you to join me in casting your vote for Chris at the state convention.

Chris was one of the primary drafters of 88(R) HB 4903, known in my office as “The Bullion Bill,” making gold and silver legal tender and functional money in Texas – able to be transacted with the modern convenience of a debit card. Chris has been instrumental in positioning that legislation where it is today.

At one point in the legislative session, we were up against the clock for time. Chris worked with my chief of staff for thirty hours over his birthday weekend to do the job of state attorneys, putting together the bill analysis for the State Affairs committee. When I met with the National Association of Christian Lawmakers regarding HB 4903, Chris paid his own way to come with me as a resource.

The bill was voted upon unanimously to become model legislation for all fifty states!

Finally, Chris was instrumental in getting Prop 7 on to the statewide Republican ballot for the March 5th Republican Primary. Prop 7 passed with 76.5% of the vote and will allow us to more effectively advocate for our bill next session.

Chris was also instrumental in helping me prepare to oppose a red flag gun bill in committee.

He has been both a valuable resource to my office and a valuable addition to the State Republican
Executive Committee and I ask you to join me in re-electing Chris Byrd to the SREC for SD25 at the state convention.

Regards,
