Report from the August 11, 2018 SREC Meeting

From your SD 25 SREC, Mark Dorazio:

Greetings, fellow Texas Republicans.

On Saturday, August 11th the Republican Party of Texas held a special training session and SREC meeting in Austin.

The morning comprised primarily of training for county and precinct chairs. Topics covered included operations of an executive committee, quorum, casting and counting votes, manners of selecting party officers, defining how your county party’s rules are adopted and amended, and crucial finance and filing information. For those of you who were unable to attend, the RPT is taking the training on the road, and online, in the near future.

After noon we conducted SREC business, which included filling a vacancy on the SREC. We elected Barbara Carrasco from El Paso to represent Senate District 29. Then we confirmed appointments to committees. Tanya Robertson is chairing the Advancement Committee, Vergel Cruz is chairing Resolutions, Terry Holcomb is chair of Auxiliaries and Coalitions, Jan Duncan is chair of the Rules Committee, Marian Knowlton is chair of Party Organization, Mark Ramsey is chair of Legislative Affairs, RPT Vice-Chairman Alma Perez-Jackson is chairing the Engagement Committee, Deon Starnes is chair of Convention Arrangements and JT Edwards is chair of the Candidate Resource Committee. We gladly ratified multiple new county chairmen, including Selene Schumacher for Dallam County and Malcom Boger for Dickens County.

Here are the amendments to our state party bylaws we voted on at the meeting, and the outcome for each:
